Statement by 45th IFAWPCA President
Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah

It is yet again time to say goodbye to another year and welcome 2022. With everything that is happening around the world, we really did not realize how fast time flew by.

It may seem like a cliché, but everything we do or talk about somewhat revolves around Covid19, and it has been like this since its outbreak in late 2019. We expected the worse to be over in 2020 and for a better time in 2021. Though it may not seem like it, 2021 has proven to be progressing positively with the vaccines becoming available leading to gradual opening of borders, and slowly paving our way to tread carefully in the new normal.

Past year was challenging, no doubt. As the President of the Federation, my main aim was to ensure continuity in the members’ engagement. A bit different than what we are used to, we have transitioned to the online platform and our best effort was made to work together for the members’ collective development. On this note, we have been compelled to hold the first Virtual Special General Assembly. We have earlier held virtual Emergency Meetings via Zoom as well, however, this was the first time an SGA was held online.

I am proud to share with you that the Memorandum of Understanding signed by IFAWCA with FIDIC has been one of our key achievements for the year and a huge milestone in IFAWPCA’s history as well. As part of this understanding, IFAWPCA members and FIDIC will establish resources to set up information dissemination platforms in their areas of expertise and carry out joint efforts to upgrade their respective brand influence and international reputation.

I am also pleased to note that the 45th IFAWPCA Convention, that is long overdue with its first intent to be held in 2020, is now rescheduled for the beginning of November 2022. This is an event I am personally looking forward to for a very long time and I hope my dear colleagues share the same sentiment. We will kick start the preparations with the beginning of the new year and we are confident that with the grace of God, we can have a successful convention.

Whilst we are mourning the loss of hundreds of thousands of our loved ones globally, we are also grateful that things are looking better. We are venturing in to 2022 with plenty of hope, dreams and powerful determination to rebuild stronger. I wish all of you, and your dear ones, a very happy new year. May you all be blessed with love, grace and harmony.
